Moving forward, transgressions such as encroachment on forest land, unlawful possession of wildlife, wildlife hunting, and the degradation of natural resources will no longer be exempted, regardless of the individuals involved. The Ministry of Environment has implemented these rigorous measures in alignment with the Royal Government of the 7th mandate of the National Assembly’s comprehensive strategy designed to foster job growth, equity, efficiency, and sustainability.

Misinterpretations on alleged insufficient law enforcement have arisen among certain analysts. The Ministry of Environment, entrusted by the Royal Government to oversee environmental and natural resource management, carries the responsibility of upholding law and preserving the integrity of our forest resources. Simultaneously, the ministry extends an invitation to human rights advocates and individuals professing affection for the forest, urging them to venture into the heart of these woodlands to appreciate the entirety of this vital ecosystem, rather than the observation of individual trees.

in response to the rigorous law enforcement initiatives, His Excellency Dr. Eang Sophalleth, the Minister of the Environment, has issued strict orders to the park rangers responsible for the protection of natural resources. These orders accentuate the significance of forming close partnerships with local authorities at various administrative levels, as well as fostering active community participation of patrols to proactively deter such transgressions. This preemptive approach plays a pivotal role in averting the recurrence of criminal activities.

The Minister of Environment has formally requested that individuals engaged in criminal activities, including the dissemination of false information and incitement to commit natural resource offenses, promptly discontinue their actions. It is vital to underline that those encroaching upon forest lands will be subject to legal penalties. It is advised to refrain from participating in such activities, as the legal framework leaves no room for leniency. “The Royal Government of Cambodia does not grant exemptions to individuals who undermine natural resources, deplete national wealth, or encroach upon forest lands.”
